Frequently asked questions
What is Matlo?
A web chess training app that analyses your Lichess and Chess.com games, measures what costs you points against players at your level, and turns it into exercises: puzzles on the clock, positions from your games, openings to review.
What is a founding member?
An account created during the preliminary phase. The status shows on your profile. It comes with no promise attached.
What data do you read from Lichess and Chess.com?
Your public games and ratings, nothing else. Lichess through OAuth or your username; Chess.com through your public username, no password. You can disconnect an account at any time: analysed games stay, no new ones are imported.
Where do the puzzles come from?
From the Lichess public database (CC0), picked around your rating and by motif, and from your own games: the positions where you or your opponent went wrong.
Why three ratings?
Because you don't calculate the same way with 30 s and with 3 min. Blitz, rapid and long each have their two-phase clock and their rating.
How many games can you import?
All of them, most recent first, then new ones every 6 hours. Your last 100 games are analysed first, older ones afterwards, when the server is free.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in the browser, on phone, tablet and computer, in light or dark mode.
Delete my account?
Settings → Delete my account. Ratings, attempts and settings are erased immediately. Your Lichess and Chess.com accounts are not affected.
